The Get Out On Main Street Day / I Care 2008 campaign began on May 13, when I started reading the news reports that showed the magnitude of the two disasters, and the low awareness and ÒsluggishÓ fundraising.  After realizing that many college students and people still didnÕt even know what was going on in the world, I decided that there should be a UD-wide effort to raise Awareness and Money. I contacted many of the relevant University of Delaware Registered Student Organization (RSO) leaders to see if other groups would like to work together to pull together such an event, in such a short time.

A few responded, and soon after (once we realized that other alternative events wouldnÕt be viable), we set out to work with Main Street Businesses to start a campus-wide, Main Street-wide and Newark-wide campaign to raise awareness and money.

All money raised will be donated to Red Cross to support relief efforts in Burma (Myanmar) and China.
